Research interests cover key challenges and technological transformations in modern maritime transport and the organization of sea transportation, including the development of autonomous vessels, the implementation of digital navigation systems, and situational awareness as a critical factor within ship navigation safety assurance.

Considerable attention is given to modelling ship behaviour under multi-factor risk and variable navigational scenarios. A dedicated research direction focuses on maritime security, including the protection of shipboard information systems, countering cyberattacks, and ensuring the resilience of the vessel’s intelligent infrastructure.

The research agenda also includes energy efficiency, fuel consumption optimisation, and reduction of the environmental footprint of marine operations, as well as the integration of remote technologies into control systems for unmanned maritime platforms and methods for improving safety, operational performance and environmental sustainability of maritime transportation.
